Wednesday, October 11, 2011 from 8:00am-12:00pm
Charter High School for Architecture + Design (CHAD), 105 S. 7th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19106
Registration Required. A few spots still left. Inquire at the conference registration desk.
Founded by the Philadelphia Chapter of the American Institute of Architects as its Legacy 2000 Project, the Charter High School for Architecture + Design (CHAD) is a substantial gift to Philadelphia, offering urban youth the chance to use design as a launching pad to expand their world view and propel themselves academically. Stay for an extra morning after the conference and be rewarded with an up close and personal look at this unique experiment in urban education. Participants will follow student hosts for three periods of a morning school schedule, dialoguing with teachers and students about the challenges and fun opportunities of learning through design and a thematic curriculum. A lunchtime round-table with school leaders follows.
This is a prime chance to see and understand the real forces and ambitions that drive this school and its larger aims for the city’s youth. If your own community doesn't have a similar venue, you might wish to change all that after visiting CHAD.
