Conference Schedule Update: New Orleans Tour Details
The field trip to New Orleans will cover multiple neighborhoods and will showcase the range of damage to both built and social structures associated with Hurricane Katrina, and the differing levels of recovery and rebuilding. The field trip will include locations where levee's broke (both at drainage canals and transportation canals), historic neighborhoods, 20th century neighborhoods built on the most marginal land, public housing developments slated for demolition and redevelopment, and drainage infrastructure.
We will also visit a range of built projects conceived and executed after the hurricane. Lunch will be purchased from Parkway Bakery and Tavern (standard New orleans Po-Boy fare) and enjoyed whilst sitting on top of a the lake Pontchartrain hurricane protection levee. The pick up location in New Orleans will be North Prieur St & Esplanade Ave New Orleans.

Free Bus Service between New Orleans and Baton Rouge
The LA Swift, a free bus service runs between New Orleans and Baton Rouge on a regular schedule. If you need to get back and forth, this makes it pretty easy. You can access the schedule here.
Neighborhood Builders Applications Due June 29
Bank of America is accepting applications for its Neighborhood Builders Program. Under the program, two outstanding nonprofit/charitable organizations in 44 markets will receive $100,000 annually for two years for operating support. Senior executives and emerging leaders with the program participants will undergo rigorous leadership training on such topics as strategic thinking, business planning, developing organizational management skills, and forging alliances.
