    Executive Director
    Environmental Works Community Design Center

    Environmental Works, a non-profit community design center, is seeking a motivated and qualified professional with a commitment to serving diverse, low income and special needs communities to become its new Executive Director. This individual should have sensitivity to design issues, experience in at least one of the fields of Architecture, Planning, Sustainability, or Affordable Housing and have income generating / marketable skills to complement the agency’s mission. This inspirational leader will be responsible for managing all aspects of the organization, will advocate on behalf of our mission, and will lead by example.

    Community Development Director

    The City of Reading, Pennsylvania http://www.readingpa.gov/index.asp is in need of a Community Development Director to manage and supervise the activities of the Community Development Office and Planning Division; ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations to coordinate planning activities with other divisions, departments and agencies; to provide highly complex staff assistance to the Planning Commission and other bodies in planning matters; and to perform related duties and responsibilities as required. 

    Requirements
    Requires a Bachelor’s Degree or a Master’s Degree in urban or Regional Planning or a related field with a minimum of five (5) years of related managerial level experience in:
    Planning, Zoning, Land Development & Subdivision Review
    Building Codes Review & Enforcement
    Historic preservation
    Neighborhood Planning
    Economic Development
    Administration of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), Home Investment Partnership (HOME), and Emergency Shelter Grant (ESG) programs
    Capital Improvement Program (CIP) management
    Increasing responsibility within an organization.
    Finance background preferred.
    Excellent oral and written communication skills required. 
    Professional certification is also preferred.
    Successful candidate will be required to establish residency in the City of Reading within twelve (12) months of appointment.
