ACD is building our field to advance equitable and just design
Through research, we seek to advance the practice of community design and creative placemaking to explicitly work towards racial justice and social equity. Our research arm looks to apply social justice methodologies and create tools and trainings for design professionals to increase the impact of their work. With the growth of ACD programs, we hope to articulate and drive a higher standard of work for our members to incorporate equity-based practices and move beyond the intention to beautify the built environment. The expansion of programs will support ACD members to become leaders in the field of design and continue to leverage their skills to co-create just communities.
Supported through generous funding from the Surdna Foundation, our research arm is completing a major project focused on examining racial justice work in design practices around the country. Stay tuned as we share that work!
