These tour sessions will offer the opportunity to visit a part of the community with embedded individuals and organizations to see the direct impact and approaches in action. In planning the conference in Chicago, we wanted to ensure attendees had the opportunity to see parts of the city that might not be featured in John Hughes movies. We also wanted to ask the question "How do people have a meaningful engagement with a community as a temporary visitor?" as planning out the experience.
Attendees will have the opportunity to choose a Tour Host and divide into small groups. Groups will depart the DuSable after a short introduction and head off with different tour hosts to see the work happening directly in communities.
Tour Hosts will lead the group to a locally-owned eatery as part of the tour route. Attendees will have the opportunity to purchase lunch at a local restaurant and continue the conversation with tour hosts over a shared meal. Attendees are responsible for the purchase of their individual lunches.
